Newsletter 13 – February 2017

Dear Parents

We are continuing to plan for the growth of the school and are meeting regularly with the North Somerset council team and the Parish Council.  The next step we have to wait for is an ecology survey, particularly for bats, which cannot take place until May.  Depending on the outcome of this survey (if there are roosting or foraging bats and which type of bat…) we will know if we have to apply to Natural England for a bat relocation license.  This will dictate the timeframe for applying for planning permission for the new school building.  We are ever hopeful of no evidence of bats using the building and the project starting in July 2017. I will keep you updated!
We are looking forward to seeing a variety of animals in school on Friday when the children can come to school dressed as their favourite animal from a book for a combination of World Book Day and World Wildlife Day. Children are also welcome to dress up as a favourite book character. Please do not feel pressured to spend lots of money on a special outfit – our aim is to have a fun day with a special theme, not to create any stress in what to wear! As Beech Class are swimming, please ensure no Beech children have additional face-paint noses etc.
The School Council have decided that any donations given on Friday’s non-uniform day will go to the Secret World Animal Rescue Centre in Somerset. Thank you very much for your support.
Please can I remind you that all shoulder length hair needs to be tied back and hair accessories should only be blue or white.
Best wishes Jane Bennett
